ISOPLETH 2)5)
← Back
A line of equal value in a graphical representation (M. CHISHOLM, 1975, p.62).
Isopleth can be used for example to represent contour lines, rainfall, temperatures, atmospheric pressures, etc. It allows for a meaningful connection among many scattered observations through the grouping of numerous statistical ones. Two successive isopleths define an area wherein approximatively similar conditions do exist.
Their use is by no means limited to geography or meteorology.
