TRANSITION (Discontinuous) 2)
← Back
The sudden emergence of a new steady state after a bifurcation in a system far-from-equilibrium.
Such transitions appear beyond a threshold at a critical distance from equilibrium and result from self-amplifying fluctuations which cannot anymore be damped and controlled by the system.
These non-equilibrium transitions lead to qualitatively, i.e. evolutive new states.
