SPACESHIP EARTH 1)
← Back
"A concept/philosophy for understanding and considering the Earth as a spaceship with a limited life supporting system or as a finite, complex ecosystem" (UNESCO-UNEP Glossary, 1983, p.25).
In Spaceship Earth, "survival requires wise management of limited resources and harmonious human and environmental relationships" (Ibid).
This concept was introduced in 1966 by K. BOULDING and his short essay has been reprinted in various collections.
