The relation which is transitive, asymmetrical and connected. Aseriality is the absence oif any of these relations (J. FEIBLEMAN & J. FRIEND, 1969, p.33)
FEIBLEMAN and FRIEND give as an example of a serial relation: "the enclosure of apple seeds by flesh and of flesh by skin is a serial relation" On the contrary the relations between grains of sand "are aserial, since they lack asymmetry" (Ibid).
