As incommensurability in conjugated periodic processes in a system seems to be a condition for chaotic behavior (P. BERGÉ and M. DUBOIS, 1992, p.120), it also seems that the interrelations between prime numbers are a basic subjacent factor of complex systems organization.
Non-ergodic behavior in complex systems with a superposition of processes of different periodicity could be related to prime numbers.
If the various periodicities are defined by different prime numbers, their interferences produce an apparently random behavior for very long time before any possible repetition of the original sequence. Such repetition would be determined by the minimal product of the different periods. Thus the basic global determinism will remain hidden and very difficult to discover when a very long observation period is not yet available.
