According to LA ZADEH: "… the ability to summarize information plays an essential role in the characterization of complex phenomena. In the case of humans, the ability to summarize information finds its most pronounced manifestation in the use of natural languages".
As a result: "If we regard the color of an object as a variable, then its values, red, blue, yellow, green, etc., may be interpreted as labels of fuzzy subsets of a universe of objects. In this sense, the attribute color is a fuzzy variable, that is, a variable whose values are labels of fuzzys sets", and
"… the main function of linguistic variables is to provide a systematic means for an approximate characterization of complex or ill-defined phenomena" (1973b, p.29).
Thus, "blue", as a fuzzy linguistic variable, includes light blue, sky blue, Prussian blue, Ultramarine, etc… However, with "blue-green ", a border distinction, we have already a problem.
