The cyclic repetition of some process or routine.
Iteration is much used in computation, to approach some desired result by progressive convergence.
Iteration is also the base for recursivity in autopoietic and hypercyclic processes.
On the other hand, J. BRIGGS and F.D. PEAT state that, in chaotic processes: "It is the iterating nature of the nonlinear equations (that represent the interconnected nature of dynamic systems) which makes impossible the improvement of predictions" (1989, p.69).
