INHIBITION (Cross) 2)5)
← Back
A mechanism of mutual negative association between antagonistic elements or subsystems.
Cross inhibitions are frequent in biological, ecological or economic processes.
They are based on combinations of positive and negative feedbacks and are needed to maintain a regulated process within defined or pre-determined limits.
J. HOLLAND describes for ex. cross inhibition in cells associations and in chromosomal alleles (1992, p.60-64).
