INFORMATION (Distributed) 2)
← Back
A situation in which information is carried by numerous elements of the system in a more or less redundant manner.
R. MARGALEF states: "Information… is a property of everything that is formed of different parts" (1980, p.19).
Distributed information in brain, computers or natural or artificial social networks allow for better chances of survival of the system if part of the network is impaired. It is one of the basic characteristics of heterarchical organization and loosely coupled systems.
