B. WALLISER emphasizes the temporal aspect of hierarchies in evolving situations: "… the "temporally embedded hierarchies" offer short, medium and long term phenomena, defined by corresponding different velocities of variations: the slow variable "frames" the quick ones and these become "integrated" into the slow one" (1991, p. 75).
This is very significant, because it implies an integrated theory of cycles. See: "KONDRATIEV cycle".
