EQUILIBRIUM (Statistical) 2)
← Back
G. PASK writes: "By analogy with a state-determined system any Markovian system reaches statistical equilibrium. In equilibrium it is characterized by averages hij and, regarded as an information source, it has a measurable variety. For n states, the maximum variety is Log2n, the variety of the reference frame, without any statistical constraints" (1961, p.45).
This seems to correspond to the limits of chaotic variation in the dynamics of complex systems.
