In an ecological sense, an excessive increase of some input in an ecosystem.
According to S. REICE, "Enrichment events often constitute disturbances… (or ) can be viewed as the indirect cause of the disturbance" (1994, p.428).
This is for example the case of a lake's eutrophication due to a considerable surfeit of nutrients.
More generally, in any system the excessive supply of some input creates a disbalance conducive to disturbance.
