The main problem for the survival of any system is the absolute necessity to adapt and constantly readapt itself to everchanging conditions in its environment (and invironment).
O. THYSSEN (1995, p. 16) expresses this as follows: "Because of the impossibility of (perfectly) mirroring the environment (or the system itself) in the system, an autopoietic system must develop structures in order to reduce complexity and create viable simplifications. The means of reducing complexity are at the same time the means of producing ordered complexity"
