CLADISTIC ANALYSIS 2)5)
← Back
A taxonomic tool in natural sciences based on the clustering of characters in individuals.
Those individuals whose respective clusters of characters are most similar are considered as the most closely related in space as well as in time.
If the individuals conform a temporal sequence, progressively growing differentiation from the type considered as original indicates the relative individual positions in the time sequence.
Whiile cladistic analysis is basically applied in vegetal and animal taxonomy, it could be used in widely different disciplines, as for example the evolution of tools or that of related languages.
